Great post. Not too long and no tedious jargon about technorati, etc.

Also the links you included were to other good blogs. It was an education - especially about thinking about the time between blogs and allowing for comment to generate.

I struggle to hold posts back. Must… click… to… publish!

Shawn - Loved your guest post! Looks like you are already seeing some benefits of it! (increased readers) - I started a blog about a year ago and it has been a bit off and on until more recently. I still don’t know if I have a purpose for it, so I will definitely work through your suggestions and look at blogging for the long run! Thanks!

That was a dandy guest post! No surprise that it was selected for ProBlogger, against such stiff competition. I think you hit all the main points that should be considered before launching a blog project, and did so clearly and concisely — finishing off with a very entertaining about-the-author paragraph that was enough to bring you another visitor (and another new subscriber).

@Mark, thank you for visiting and subscribing! When I started blogging, at first I had no real direction. Then I asked myself, why am I doing this? Is it to be randomly writing down my thoughts and hoping for a million readers?

Thats when dyLosE was born. I had a purpose and a direction. I have a dream of living overseas and taking my income with me online. I hope to document my journey and hopefully inspire others to do what they really want to do, and not live on autopilot.

Loved your post on ProBlogger. Well, I also hated it. The “have a niche” argument has been eating at me for a while and your post rubbed it in. But in a good CONSTRUCTIVE way.

I just got done reading your post and you covered most of the bases. Many people don’t really think about the long term when they start a blog. I know I didn’t. Taking just a little extra time to plan out what, and how, you are going to blog can make a big difference. I have reevaluated the “purpose” of my blogging and have made some adjustments. I now feel much better about my blogging as a result.
